Can’t swing culinary school, but want to learn more than the basics? Let The Foodie School walk you through the skills and knowledge needed to go from home cook to budding chef. Each week we'll teach you something new while utilizing the skills you’ve been practicing at home. This is a progressive course, so please make sure you’ll be able to attend all four weeks before registration. Students are requested to bring a chef's knife to the first class (8-inch or larger, not serrated), but house knives will be available for use as well. 7/11: Knife Skills, Stocks, and Basic Vegetable Cookery - Menu for Week 1: Vegetable Stock; Cream of Celery Soup; Sautéed Vegetable Medley; Curried Butternut Squash; Fennel Gratin; Glazed Carrots. 7/18: Sauces, Meat Cookery, and Fish Cookery - Menu for Week 2: Braised Beef Stew; Chicken Parmesan with Marinara; Pasta with Alfredo Sauce; Poached Fish with Bearnaise Sauce. 7/25: Starches, Salads, and Hors d’Oeuvres - Menu for Week 3: Anna Potatoes; Risotto; Shrimp Bisque; Caesar Salad; Hazelnut Crusted Goat Cheese Salad with Raspberries; Caprese Skewers; Phyllo Tarts; Smoked Salmon Stuffed Cucumbers. 8/1: Breakfast Preparation and Baking Basics - Menu for Week 4: Quiche Lorraine; American Omelet; Blueberry Muffins; Fruit Pie; Sticky Buns. This menu may contain dairy, gluten, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, meat, pork, soy and alcohol. 1 WEEK NOTICE: Full refund or Future Class Credit. 48 HOURS NOTICE: You may receive a Future Class Credit that may only be rescheduled once. If you cannot make the new class, you may give your seat to someone else to attend in your place, but no further credit will be issued. 24 HOURS NOTICE: You may give your seat to someone to attend in your place, but no credit will be given. Please just have your stand-in give your name at the door. NO SHOW: If you do not call or e-mail prior to the class, no refund or credit will be given. Please remember that the classes are events like a concert or a play, not an appointment to be rescheduled. COVID-19: If you are experiencing ANY symptoms, we ask that you DO NOT attend class. Please cancel and you will receive a Future Class Credit.
